Dario Carta
Graphic Designer and historian
Dario Carta (1977) is a graphic designer and historian. After pursuing humanistic
studies (a Master’s Degree in Contemporary History and a PhD in Cultural
Anthropology), he founded the independent studio #cartadesign, which works with
historical institutes, cultural foundations and public administrations.
The Studio focuses on cultural projects, among which the design of visual systems
for historical, documentary and art exhibitions. At the same time, the Studio
specializes in editorial projects. For some years, the Studio has been working on
visual and non-visual projects related to contemporary topics: gender, lgbtqia +,
human rights, migration, identities, and conflicts. Alongside these activities, Dario
Carta conducts research into the history of visual communication, with particular
attention to propaganda and political communication, editing publications.
He has been general secretary of AIAP, Italian Association of Visual Communication
Design since 2019, and he is professor of graphic design and history of visual
communication in several advanced schools in Milan.
